Minimum Qualifications: This position requires an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. This position also requires two years of related experience.
Responsibilities: This position will reconcile cashiers’ daily work with the bank statements and verifying all funds were properly deposited. In addition, this position will procure daily account balance and activity reports from bank; research and record bank activity in financial data system after determining appropriate cost center, fund, and general ledger account. The employee will prepare cashier journals; post invoices to trade accounts; review sub-fund and G/L for accuracy; enter on-line requisitions records relating to financial or accounting operations of the College. He or she will make accounting entries and adjustments requested by students, faculty, staff and supervisors, including voiding accounts payable and student checks, and voiding student entries in PS. Maintain/update Checklist for Year-end Closing, which includes AFR and MD&A review and gathering, Compiling and maintaining required information; assists with audit as directed by Supervisor. Assists with preparation of Excel spreadsheets, graphs, and PowerPoint presentation for Budget and AFR for DBOT meetings. This position will also facilitate year-end closing and audit by gathering and maintaining required information; assist with audit as directed by Supervisor; assists the Accountant I with billing and reconciling Accounts Receivables. He or she will prepare and upload files in PS and performs routine office tasks such as data entry, typing correspondence, filing, faxing, telephoning, and photocopying. Other accounting duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Applicants must have a working knowledge of accounting principles, practices and reporting requirements; knowledge of accounting software and database data extraction; provide a high degree of computerized accounting experience. Applicants must have the ability to work with accounting personnel as well as other departments to gain information and ensure accuracy of accounting transactions; applicants must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Preference will be given to candidates with governmental/fund accounting experience.
Working Hours: This position may require evening and/or weekend hours as needed due to workload.
This is a fulltime, hourly position with a minimum hourly rate of $13.26 with an approximate annual amount of $27,600. Minimal additional compensation may be granted for education and/or experience exceeding the minimum stated job requirements. This is at the sole discretion of Daytona State College.
